This time to Myanmar.
No visit to the Union of Myanmar is complete without a visit to the 2,500 years old Shwedagon Pagoda, which enshrines strands of Buddha's hair and other holy relics. Located west of the Royal Lake on 114 -acre Singuttara Hill in Yangon, Shwedagon Pagoda is the most sacred and impressive Buddhist site for the people of the Union of Myanmar.
Looks like he has found a prey?
How about this from my recent trip to India?
Tigers are the largest members of the cat family and are renowned for their power and strength.
There were eight tiger subspecies at one time, but three became extinct during the 20th century. Over the last 100 years, hunting and forest destruction have reduced tiger populations from hundreds of thousands of animals to perhaps fewer than 2,500. Tigers are hunted as trophies, and also for body parts that are used in traditional Chinese medicine. All five remaining tiger subspecies are endangered, and many protection programs are in place.
Bengal tigers live in India and are sometimes called Indian tigers - like the one I was fortunate to get with my camera!!!

With Gertrud and Philipp at "Pourquoi pas" at the Lake of Bienne
Philipp invited Janet and David E to spend some days at their beautiful place "Pourquoi pas" situated at the lake of Bienne. Ida and Franz joined them on Wednesday to spend a lovely day together. The weather was beautiful, good opportunity for a great lunch on the lake side; on the menu : grilled "St.Galler Bratwurst", the best gill sausage in the world.
With Malini in the Montreux region
Malini Saran still owns a small flat in Chamby, near Montreux, where she spends a few weeks every summer. This is always a good opportunity to meet old friends from the region. Before going back to India she invited the regional PED15 participants for a dinner at the small restaurant "Les Fougères" above Blonay. It was the beginning of the hunting season, so we had a very good choice of the meal. On the photo you see Malini, Brigitte, Ida, Max, Maria, Camille and Franz.
"Take one day at a time, and treasure each day"
Famous quote reflected on Jean-Pierre's family faces, while visiting Carcassonne on October 2012, with his wife Arlette, son Oliver and his wife Marie-Claire, at the foot of a wonderful Wall in this magnificent village, a fortified Southern French town in the Aude department, of which it is the prefecture, in the Region of Languedoc-Rousillon.
The meeting took place last 25th of October, although quite short it was enough to share a few words. The place and the food were excellent. Again, thank you David for being in London. Hope I can have the chance to get together in the near future. I may go to London during 2014 before our reunion in September in CH. I have an appointment - (seminar), days 29 and 30 of January in Brussels. Maybe I can meet Jean-Pierre, our PED 15 colleague.
Christmas is coming next week and 2014 is about to happen, then, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all, David, Jorge and our PED15 colleagues and families.
It was a wonderful opportunity during a business trip for Jorge to meet with dear Ellen and Keith in their home town, actually the original place from which Dutch emigrants to America took the name for what it is Brooklyn, NY, today. This community is situated to the north west of Utrecht, along the river Vecht and close to the lakes of the Loosdrechtse Plassen, an area of natural and touristic interest. During the 17th century many wealthy Amsterdam merchant families built their mansions along the river near Breukelen.
Keith arranged a short boat trip to the lakes just outside their home, a pleasant way to appreciate the fantastic job Dutchmen have done to gain land. The visit included a fantastic dinner at the Restaurant in de Watertuin a very typical place nearby. What a great way to share memories of our days in Lausanne.
Your feedback regarding this idea as well as your suggestions on how to improve, to make of it a channel of communication among the PED15 Group will be most welcome!!!

Jorge has done a magnificent job.
Thanks for the key ...
Jorge Arredondo 08/28/2013 9:21pm
Thanks Malini, although the work has been achieved with the decisive support of our colleagues Franz, David A, Per Engstrom, David E and Enric Grabulosa, so they share your kind words.
It is highly gratifying to contribute with this idea, for the benefit of our Group, trusting we can reinforce the contacts between all the members.

Thank you all for your efforts to build this site ,its beautifully been made and helps us not to lose our contact and also to remember our old memories.
Jorge Arredondo 08/31/2013 7:29pm
Wonderful to read your comment Javad!! It really brings back a lot of passages of our lives and opens many opportunities to create new ones.
By visiting the Site as often as possible and drop a few comments for the Group and individually, we can certainly strengthen our friendship.
Trust you and Fattaneh will make it to our 36th reunion next year.

This is a fantastic site which reflects very well the spirit and ambience of PED 15. A great way to keep in contact. My congratulations to all who made it possible.
Actually, I wrote something similar directly after the site was launched but somehow it got lost. Jorge suspects perhaps due some of his fine-tuning at the time.
Therefore I have waited until I know Jorge has other priorities in mind before repeating my congratulations - today he has no time to play webmaster -he is at an international conference in Amsterdam and we look forward to meeting up with him tomorrow!

My wonderful rendezvous with Keith and Ellen last Sunday September 15th 2013 was in Bruekelen, near Amsterdam, from which Brooklyn in New York City is named after.
Our encounter was celebrated with an excursion on Keith’s boat through the canals and lake just in front of Scheendijk, a hamlet belonging to Bruekelen in the Dutch province of Utrecht.
It was a great opportunity to bring back our memories of Lausanne and our days at IMEDE – study and leisure wise, although not enough of the latter, but certainly intense.
Hope and wish this kind of visits were more often possible and look forward of course for our collective reunions, such as the one being planned for 2014.
Best regards, Jorge

Hello everyone and specifically David and Jorge.
This is an excellent idea and Kerstin and myself are looking forward very much. The program seems perfect except that it is all to short. Another 2 Days would not be missed, there are a lot of things to do in Appenzell and there are many PED 15:s to talk to. Depending on what others decide, we will probably stay another 2 Days in Appenzell, ore move to another Place in Switzerland for 2 - 3 Days, in that case just to feel the atmosphere.
This day marks the opening of our Cyber collection of memories from our time in Lausanne and the various Anniversary reunions that have taken place since then. Already news from our colleagues are coming with messages like:
"... Just few minutes was enough to travel from 1978 to now. All of us got old, few passed away but still lots of energy I can feel inside the group.
Now we can be updated imediately by just writing few words. Let´s do it."

Great idea to have a special area to put information about us. I would like to read and see (pictures) of all PED 15 friends are doing and what they comment about the day to day life. Let´s practice.
Few words about me. Now almost 65 (Oct 31st) still working hard: CEO of a state foundation for supporting R&D&Inovation projects; teaching part time at University; member of few organizations boards; president of a national council of state foundations.
Married with same wife, Maria Cacilda, one daugther Paula 28, still at home.
Jorge Arredondo 08/10/2013 4:53pm
Great Sergio!!!, and thanks for your quick and positive response!!
David Evans 08/10/2013 5:25pm
Great stuff Sergio. You make me feel very old - 74 next week. After the shock of losing my wife Ann in 2004 I was very lucky to find Janet who came with me to our 34 year reunion last year. Her first remark "how amazing that you have such good friends from 34 years ago". So I now have 5 children and 9 grandchildren. Interestingly my Swiss grandson has just joined Nestle to make the third generation of my family to join the company. With all this I have no time for work - stopped 5 years ago. Hope everyone will come to the next reunion which will be in Switzerland in the autumn of 2014. Camille will be the organiser
SERGIO GARGIONI 09/01/2013 3:47am

I'll be in London next October 20 to 28 for a official mission. It will be great to meet you and Armitage. I will send you more information latter.

I'm really pleased to see the old guard of PED 78 is still alive and full of projects , staying up to date with the technical innovation. Thank you for Jorge and his supporters ,

Wonderful to know you are pleased with the idea Jean Pierre, and your comments now and in the future are the most valuable motivation to move on with renewed and modernized energy!

Hello Kurt!! Wonderful to hear from you after so many years and trust this initiative will help strengthen our communication.
You can’t imagine how many times I’ve brought back the learning experiences during our days at IMEDE, particularly your dissertations on Finance that has evolved to become the center of the present world’s re-shifting, together with the Information and Communication’s developments.
As I understand, you are active in your academic profession; certainly now equipped with the latest technology – imagine how we could survive without Excel those days!!!
You used to say: “I am afraid I’m not mechanically minded, but I appreciate that some of my students have arrived in the world and are able to keep me advised of the time”.
And remember these other famous Quotes?
- “Nobody had really the time to think about the difference between common and preferred shares in terms of convertible bonds… (Merger negotiations)
- “The situation became more tense. Pedro started sucking his pipe more and more until he dropped it and switched to cigarettes…”
- “At 12:47pm all kinds of offers were coming out…”
